Maplecroft Maps
A really good site for linking basic spatial data with tonnes of information. There are resource banks, hotspots located on mpas, and lots of summary global scale choropleth maps which act as a good spatial summary/introduction to the issues you can chose from. Really like this as a portal for student research.

Where's the path
This is a fantastic site to help children understand the links between O.S. maps and satellite imagery. It also allows some basic functions such as route lengths and simple profiles so that children can begin to make sense of contour information. A really nice way to begin to get them thinking spatially. You can find it at:
